Wait, what month are we in?

My calendar indicates that we're in May, mid-May to be exact, but the weather makes it seem like we're back in November. Just when I thought that we were getting nice weather, it had to change up on me and make me miserable. It's non-stop rain, cloudiness and winds. The days always start with a pretty heavy rain and then just stays gloomy and ugly. Ugh... what sucks even more is that I took all my winter clothes down to Madrid already. So I've been looking like an onion and layering like crazy. Fortunately I found a coat in the pile of clothes that I was going to donate... But seriously, what is up with this weather!

I was hoping I could enjoy my last few weeks in San Sebastian with sun and at the beach but no, it had to turn all winter on me again! What happened to April showers bring May flowers? I feel like April showers bring more May showers!

Let me tell you a few phrases the people told me:

"Hasta el 40 the mayo, no te quites el sayo"--Until the 40th of May (do the math), don't take off your coat.

"Si en marzo mayea, en mayo marzea"--If March has May weather, May has March weather.

And a lot of my English students have been telling me that in the Basque country, you never know what the weather will be like, even in the summer.

So all my good mood from that one week of good weather we had is slowly changing back to depressed, angry, winter mood.
