"Arbeit macht frei" (work frees) is the first thing you see while you're about to enter through the gates of the Dachau concentration camp. For your information, the Dachau camp was the first Nazi concentration camp to open and it served as a model for the next camps to open. This was my favorite, yet not so fun moment in Munich. It was so neat to see where history took place, but at the same time, you feel this "thing" in the air knowing how many people have died in the camp. This place is definitely indescribable. When you see what the human society has done to each other because of power/racial ignorance/plane ignorance, it's very sad. The crematorium was a rather scary place to go in. The process of how the people were tricked into going into "showers" then stripped down, gassed to death and then cremated is just so gruesome. Anywhoo, I am glad I got to visit the site though.
If you get a chance, I highly recommend visiting the site, though you might want to be prepared to witness some not so pleasant things.
