Because I love clothes and shoes

***This is the Winter/Early Spring fashion edition***
Since I love clothes/shoes/fashion in general so much, I've decided to do an entry on how it is over here. Fashion in Spain is rather interesting, actually, fashion in San Sebastian is pretty interesting. In my trip to Madrid, i felt like people pretty much wore the same thing back at home, but San Sebastian feels more "posh" and people dress up more. There are different types of fashion here:

1) Those who actually follow the trend
2) Hippies
3) Tourists/International students

Trend followers: So what is "in" here in San Sebastian? Well, the whole layering, bohemian, hype-beasty colors are totally all over the place. People here love color. You see all types of colored jeans, boots, coats...you name the article of clothing and color, they probably have it! Also people here like the color RED. People wear red a lot! I don't know why... Also, for girls around my age, the pleather jacket is totally in. Black and Brown ones. Guys wear pretty much the same thing as they do back home with the whole skinny jeans stuff, but they are way better dressed and clean cut. Girls have the fierce, straight-across-the-forehead-bangs going on and the guys usually have the faux-hawk style or a beach boy hair going on. Mullets are in too but that goes on more with the hippies. Actually for our trend-followers, the mullet is quite popular among the girls... I know! Why would they do such a thing... oh well. But yea, old people even have a little trend going on. The old men always wear the basque Beret. It's kind of like the French beret but rumor has it the Basques were the first to wear it. The old ladies love fur coats. Fur coats EVERYWHERE! But yea, people here in San Sebastian are known to be the "rich people" so they dress up a lot.

Hippies: Surprisingly, among this well-dressed community, there are those who go against the norms and wear whatever they feel like. From potato-sack material pants to Bob Marley gear, just your normal hippies. Their hairstyle is an odd type of mullet. It totally follows the business in the front and party in the back rule, but the back is rather interesting. Instead of the regular longer hair in the back, they have DREAD LOCKS! haha So it's a "dreadllet."

Tourists/International students: You can totally pick out tourists as well. Well I've noticed a lot of "French" people here because we're so close to France and a lot of them come shopping here. Their sense of fashion is quite different. They seem to wear a lot of black and it's just different. I can't really explain it but if you see it you'll know. You can also tell who's a tourist because Basque people have unique traits that they all have, hence the homogeneity in this area. International students (USA ones), well, yea, you can totally pick out Americans as well. It's just the way we dress I guess. Haha, it's not "poshy" enough for them.

Balenciaga... ring a bell? Well duh, it's a renown designer who is actually Spanish (Full name=Cristobal Balenciaga)! Not only that but he's Basque! Supposedly, they are making a museum here with his collections so I'm pretty excited for that.
Carolina Herrera... another famous Spanish designer... her 212 perfume actually smells really good.

So what do I wear you ask? I wear what I brought from home... So I belong in the "tourist/international student" section. However, my supervisor did say I dress pretty similar to people here... I guess that California style and San Sebastian style is pretty similar only that over here they take it to the next level. I'm not going to lie thought, I've acquired some Spanish gear with all the rebajas going on. But don't judge, I've only bought a few things consisting of 10 Euros or less :-)
Below is a picture of me and my two hands-on roommates. Yup that's all from home, except the jacket, I bought it with J in Madrid. But I have a similar one that I brought from home only that's dark blue. You be the judge.

I have been informed that the French wear black in the winter - but in the summer, bring on the color!

And speaking of color, the most colorful items I have seen here are men's underwear (in stores, of course). I am not kidding. I have a pic of one wall of an underwear store to prove it...I'll dig it out and send it to you.
