Home is great! It's so good to be back, even though I miss all my fellow farmers... It's so good watching TV, being in civilization and eating non-caf food, but the journey back home wasn't as great as I'd like it to be.
So it all started on Thursday morning, waking up at 7AM and getting read to clean the remaining things I had left and saying goodbyes to the people leaving early. Man, saying goodbye was so hard... but I was good, I DID NOT CRY! lol I got really teary-eyed but no mass balling! Anyways, After getting ready and putting all my stuff in the KGC by 8AM, I had to wait for the bus for 2.5 hours so we can go to the airport. At last, 10:30AM arrived and off we were to Richmond Intl. I slept all the way there because I was so tired from the previous night. Upon arrival to the airport, we did the whole routine thing (check in bags, get my tickets, go through security) and we come to see that our flight had been delayed 30mins. Ok no big deal, so we were waiting around and it got delayed 15 more mins! And it doesn't end there, it got delayed 15 more minutes. So we were already 1 hour behind... Thankfully I was with like 6 other farmers so the wait wasn't as bad. R&J shared some airport horror stories and it was just a good fellowship time. I even had JJ's Ipod there with me so I was happy. Finally it was boarding time, we were the last group to get called and we were so happy to get in the plane! After settling down, buckling up, and waiting for the plane to take off, nothing happened... seriously it took another 30mins to take off!
I had a layover in Dallas with a 1.5 hour wait so I had no time to waste! I didn't want to miss my flight, and my fellow farmers going to Oklahoma had less time so they basically didn't have time to make it to their connecting flight. Very anxious and excited to go home... I was just praying that I didn't miss my flight. During the nervous 30 min wait for the plane to take off, the gentleman sitting beside me and I started talking and I found out that he was also a believer and one of his daughters was going to serve in Cambodia with a different organization! I was scared after contingency training I'd have to stick to my STS, but since this gentleman totally knew everything I went outside my box. He was such a nice man and even told me about jobs I could do if I ever get a medical or political degree but still work with believers. So after the plane took off, I knocked out!
I woke up when we landed in Dallas and as soon as they announced we could turn on electronics I saw that it was 5:30PM... great I lost my flight home. However, the nice man actually called the airline and asked if there was any delays and they said it would now leave at 5:45PM! So I had 15 minutes to get out of the plane and run to the other terminal all the way to the other side where my gate was!!!! But the plane took forever to park next to the gate, so now my time to get to the other side of the airport was cut down to 7 minutes :( Plus my fellow farmers found out that the OK City airport was closed due to the bad weather so they had to find another way... They ended up renting a car and going home so I'm glad they got home safe.
So back to my story, as soon as I got my stuff I ran out of the plane, ran to the skylink terminal and as soon as I got to my terminal I ran like I never did!! Seriously, me running with a huge backpack, and a rolling carry on wasn't a nice scene... Seriously I saw people laughing at me! But I didn't care as long as I made it to my gate! I made it! I got there 3 minutes late, which shows how great my running skills were... but the guy said I missed the flight! I was out of breath, I hadn't been home for 2 months... I JUST WANTED TO GO HOME! He put me on standby for the next flight out which was in 1.5 hours and he said that I was #1 but wasn't guaranteed a seat because the next flight out was full. If so, I'd have to wait another 2 hours for the next flight or even wait till the next day!! I was like of "heeeeeelllll-O" [lol]. So I got my standby ticket and just headed over to the next terminal... Great, all that running for nothing!
I waited and waited... it was the longest 1.5 hours of my life! My name was still on the standby list and they didn't call it! It was boarding time! Oh no, my name is still not called! At this point I gave up and thought to myself being stuck in TEXAS wouldn't be as bad.... But then I heard my name!!!!! I seriously jumped for joy and started clapping because I was so happy! I went in the plane and finally felt like I was going home! It took 3 extra hours but I did it!!! Upon arrival, to the OC, I saw my luggage right by the escalators and I was so happy, I was even happier when I saw my 2 best friends there to pick me up! It was now 9:45PM and our original plans to stop by DLAND before going home were slim... but hey, DLAND closes at midnight and it only takes 10mins from the airport! So we went! It was GREEEEEAT!! After DLAND I finally arrived home... my momma had made me my favorite Korean soup but I was too tired to eat so I ate it the next day....
Yes, this was my first bad airport experience... I'm just thankful I got in the next flight and that my luggage wasn't lost! I just hope that my flight to the field will be smooth with no complications...
Today going back to church after doing worship with small group was quite different. I miss baby J saying "OH no!" M and I talking to us and sitting next to us and my wonderful small group people!
